Zulal Water Technology (“ZWT”) today announced it had been awarded an EPC contract by Akakus Oil Operations (“AOO”) to provide a Sea Water Reverse Osmosis Plant complete with all Pre and Post Treatment Systems for their facility in Zawia Terminal.

AOO is one of Libya’s largest oil producers, and the award follows a competitive tender process undertaken to find a replacement for the existing GE-Ionics BWRO Plant. The total capacity of the plant is 150 m 3 /day.

Iftikhar-ul-Haq, Managing Director of ZWT, commented: “This contract award reflects ZWT’s strong reputation and execution track record within the Libyan market. We very much look forward to working with AOO again and are confident of completing the project on time and to the client’s satisfaction.”

Akakus Oil Operations has been looking for an advanced technology capable of handling the current feed water salinity at Zawiya Tank Farm. AOO informs that ZWT has been selected based on the strength of their technical proposal and their ability to install high quality water treatment plants in a short time frame, which they have proved in previous contracts with AOO.
